Yucca House National Monument

Mesa Verde, CO 81330
(970) 529-4465

Description:

The site of an Anasazi Ancient Puebloan civilization, the ruins and artifacts at Yucca House National Monument are still largely hidden and unexplored. Historically, the ancient village was inhabited between 900 CE and 1300 CE, only becoming a place of relatively heavy occupation around 1150 CE. While there are few sights for the untrained observer to enjoy, amateur archaeologists can look at some of the exposed ruins and try to figure out how life must have been led in this long-abandoned town. The park resides about 10 miles south of Cortez, just a few miles off the highway and west of Mesa Verde National Park.
